The US votes against Israeli withdrawal from the Golan Heights in the UN

Ambassador Nikki Haley

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]For the FIRST TIME EVER, the US had voted in the UN against Israeli withdrawal from the Golan Heights.

The General Assembly holds a yearly vote over the Israeli occupation of the Golan Heights. Thus far, the USA had abstained from voting, until ambassador Nikki Haley had voted last week against the Israeli withdrawal. Hailey stated that from now on, the US will not abstain from voting against this proposition.

This American stance is as the Israeli ambassador Danny Dannon stated: “A brave decision”, due to the lack of popularity of the Israeli occupation of the Golan Heights within the international community. Nikki Haley further explained the decision by stating that the militarization of the Syrian Golan border, as well as worsening humanitarian conditions led the US to their decision. The Israeli security on the Syrian border indeed relies heavily on the Israeli control over the Golan Heights, particularly when Iranian proxies led by Hezbollah are attempting to establish terror infrastructure in the Syrian side of the Golan, thus militarizing the area as Haley had stated. Therefore, Israel has the right to protect itself from within the Golan Heights, and it is time for the international community to acknowledge this fact.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_images_carousel images=”3188,3189″ img_size=”medium”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Nikki Haley pic from @nikkihaley
