[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]reports from the past week suggest that Saudi Arabia is willing to accept the American proposal dubbed “Deal of the Century”. This has created a rift between the Saudi kingdom and the radical Islamic Movement’s northern branch – which operates from within Israel.
Kamal Khatib, the deputy leader of the movement, criticized the Saudi attitude towards the American initiative, and the ongoing normalization with Israel. Khatib even suggested that the House of Saud (the ruling house in Saudi Arabia) does not deserve the title ” Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques” – the two holiest mosques in the Islamic faith located in Macca and Medina in Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi tendency towards accepting the “Deal of the Century” is a clear indication, as Khatib suggests, that the Saudis will accept Jewish eternal control of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa. Khatib goes further with his claims, stating that the Saudis accept the American proposal because in Islamic history, Jewish presence was documented in the holy city – Medina – and in the town of Khaibar; thus, the Saudis are essentially brokering a deal with the Jews to give up their claims in Saudi Arabia in exchange for Jerusalem.
These statements have no basis but are still meant to incite the Muslim world against the Saudi kingdom and create dissatisfaction with the deal, before it is even proposed. The radical movement wants to ensure the maintenance of the status quo and continue to spread hate and resistance to Israel to Muslims worldwide, and specifically in Israel – its core value.
