Hezbollah – Evidence From the Field of Activity and Presence Very Near the Border

Since Hezbollah joined the fighting on October 8, 2023, and as of this writing, it has over 330 fatalities among its operatives. Hezbollah does not provide many details about the circumstances of their deaths, and apart from their names, pictures, ages and place of residence, there are no further details about the circumstances of their deaths.

A piece of unique evidence discovered by us discloses the circumstances of the death of one of the Hezbollah operatives and the activities of his squad to which he belonged before and during its operation. In addition, it can be seen that Hezbollah operatives are physically present and continue to operate very close to the border with Israel.

On Friday, May 31, 2024, at 1730 hours, the IDF attacked the area of the village of Yaron, about a kilometer from the border with Israel.  About an hour later, at 1830, the IDF reported that a Hezbollah operative had been identified and killed in the village of Yaron.  About two hours later, Hezbollah issued an official announcement regarding a martyr from its ranks – Abbas Butzi, born in 1990 and originally from Bint Jbeil.

In eulogies delivered at his funeral and in ceremonies in memory of Butzi, he bears the title of Sheikh. Butzi, in addition to being a Hezbollah military terrorist operative, joined a high school for Shi’a studies (Jose Alamiya حوزة العلمية) in 2017, and in addition to his studies, he also taught Shi’ite Islam to children and youths.

Above: From left to right: Abbas Butzi, Ali Shoaib (Al-Manar journalist) and Qassem Soleimani (former commander of the Quds Force).  Soleimani was killed on January 20. It seems that the photo was taken a few years before that in Syria.

According to the data we discovered, Butzi went on his mission with another Hezbollah operative in the village of Yaroun, from which he never returned. Their mission was to conduct observation, information collecting, and photography. They traveled by vehicle from the assembly place in Maroun a-Ras to complete their mission.

This evidence indicates part of the squad’s schedule and its conduct before and during its mission (as previously stated, when the squad returned from their mission, the IDF spotted them and apparently struck them with a UAV.):

Arriving at a meeting point the day before the mission (May 30) and focusing on prayers, religious preaching and heritage stories about various shaheeds, including Iranian shaheeds.

Operational preparations for the mission itself began only on the day of the mission, after lunch, a few hours before departure.

Leaving Maroun a-Ras and driving to Yaroun (approximately three kilometers) not before they arranged their external appearance (dressing and combing the hair of the beards).

Arriving at Yarun, placing the vehicle in a pre-agreed position, leaving the car keys inside, so that other Hezbollah operatives could move the car if they do not return (“It will be easier to pick up the car when the keys are already inside…”).

They then tied red Shiite revenge ribbons around their necks. Inscribed on the ribbons was the Imam Hussein’s slogan of revenge.

Arriving at the vantage point, performing their mission and returning in a disguised and covert manner most of the time.
