With a high probability, Hezbollah is currently on high alert in light of the incident of the rocket fire into Majdal Shams, the killing of the children, and the possible response from Israel. Presumably, their air defense array is on high alert. Hezbollah does not yet have extensive and integrated air defense systems, but with Iranian assistance, they strive to achieve this capability. Hezbollah’s air defense array is based mostly on Iranian and Russian systems.
During the past few months of fighting, we received visual evidence of the presence of the Iranian 358 missiles and the Sayyad-2 missiles in the hands of Hezbollah. In November 2023 and May 2024, Sayyad-2 sites were attacked south of Sidon, near the Zaharani power plant. The Sayyad-2 is operated as part of a complete system that includes radar, command and control systems.
