This week there was a decline in the percentage of attacks against IDF forces in Lebanon – 18.2% compared to last week – 26.4%.

The main means of attack used by Hezbollah continues to be rocket fire, nevertheless this week there was a decline in the number of incidents: 146 rocket attacks this week compared with 179 last week.

The Lebanese arena:

War data:

In Israel, the government evacuated 43 communities located up to five kilometers from the Lebanese border. A total of about 68,000 citizens. To them were added several thousand more who decided to evacuate independently. It should be noted that some of the Israeli communities have not been fully evacuated and there is a civilian presence there (agriculture and industry).

During the past week 176 attacks were carried out along the northern border, of which Hezbollah claimed responsibility for 122 attacks against Israel. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for another 31 attacks for which there was no verification.

Since the beginning of the war, 4,646 attacks have been carried out in the northern arena, the vast majority of which were carried out by Hezbollah.

Hezbollah and other organization casualties

Hezbollah stopped regularly publicizing its casualties. However, the social networks publish announcements about funerals of operatives killed. Based on reports on social media, we identified at least 123 Hezbollah operatives who were killed this week. However, the number of casualties is presumably higher.

As of October 8, 2023, about 1,608 Hezbollah operatives that we managed to document were killed. Most of the operatives killed originated south of the Litani River (870 operatives were killed, constituting 54% of all the fatalities whose place of residence we know of).

According to reports in Lebanon, since the beginning of the war, 104 operatives of other organizations in Lebanon have been killed, including Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Amal Movement, Al-Jama’ah al-Salamiya (Al-Fajr), the Lebanese Resistance Brigades, Fatah and the Democratic Front.

Eliminations of senior Hezbollah figures

This week, four senior Hezbollah commanders were eliminated, including the commander of the Baraachit compound, a commander in the Radwan force’s anti-tank array, a commander in Hezbollah headquarters, and a battalion commander in the Al-Khiam sector.

In addition, it was reported that in an October 2024 attack on the Dahiya in Beirut (in which Hashem Safi al-Din – Nasrallah’s successor and Hussein Ali Hazimah, commander of Hezbollah’s intelligence staff – were eliminated), Mahmoud Mohammad Shahin, head of Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters in Syria, was also eliminated.

As of October 8, 2023, 162 senior Hezbollah operatives have been eliminated. The most senior is Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. In addition, among the senior figures killed were Jihad Council members Fouad Shakar (head of the strategic divisions), Ibrahim Aqil (head of the operations division), Ali Karki (commander of the Southern Front), Suheil Hussein Husseini (head of the headquarters), and Hashem Safieddine (Nasrallah’s intended successor).

  • 7 Senior Hezbollah leaders (4.3% of those eliminated)
  • 23.5% of those eliminated, a total of 38, belonged to the Radwan unit, including acting unit commanders Wassam al-Tawil (January 2024), Ahmad Mahmoud Wahbi (September 2024) and deputy unit commander Mustafa Ahmad Shehadi (October 2024).
  • 27.8%, a total of 45 of the geographic units (Southern Front), with an emphasis on the Nasser unit, including unit commander Haj Abu Taleb and Aziz unit commander Ahmad Naama Nasser. The emphasis in the Radwan unit and in the geographical units was placed on eliminating commanders of sectors (equivalent to brigade commanders) and commanders in professional formations (rockets/anti-tanks, etc.).
  • 31, constituting 19.1%, commanders of various ranks killed in the ground maneuvers in southern Lebanon.
  • 12, constituting 7.4%, are operatives in Hezbollah headquarters.
  • Seven senior operatives from the air unit, including the unit commander, were eliminated.
  • Three others from Hezbollah’s air defense system.
  • Two senior operatives and the commander of Hezbollah’s weapons transfer unit from Syria to Lebanon (Unit 4400).
  • An operative in the engineering unit and a member of Hezbollah’s Jihad Council.
  • 3.1% of those eliminated, a total of 5, constituted knowledge centers in the fields of research/development/production of weapons and combat support technology.
  • 6.8%, 11 senior operatives from the rocket missile array, including the unit commander and the unit commander in southern Lebanon.

Prominent airstrikes in Lebanon

(November 6) Hezbollah headquarters, weapons depots, and military infrastructure were among the targets in Dahiya, Beirut. Hezbollah located these targets in the heart of the civilian population, and prior to the attacks, the IDF issued warnings and evacuation notices to the civilians. This is another example of Hezbollah’s exploitation of Lebanese citizens as human shields. In addition, during the day, weapons depots and Hezbollah command-and-control compounds in Nabatiya were attacked.

(November 7) A command-and-control compound of Hezbollah aerial unit was attacked in the Tyre area. In this operations room the unit operated to implement the use of explosive and intelligence collecting UAVs against Israeli territory.

(November 9) Headquarters, a weapons manufacturing site and other infrastructure used by Hezbollah in the Dahiya area of Beirut were attacked. Prior to the attack, advance warnings were issued to the population in the area in order to minimize harm to civilians.

Hezbollah – General:

(November 6) Speech by Naeem Qassem marking the 40th day since the elimination of Hassan Nasrallah:

According to Naim Qassem, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu refuses to set an end date for the war, since his plan extends beyond Gaza, Palestine and Lebanon and is meant to reshape the Middle East. Qassem claims that Netanyahu is aiming his aggression at Lebanon: first, to put an end to Hezbollah’s presence; second, to conquer Lebanon, even from afar, and turn Lebanon into the West Bank; And third, changing the map of the Middle East.

According to him, Netanyahu does not understand that he is facing a resistance with a powerful foundation, including unshakable beliefs and fighters who aspire to martyrdom and are not afraid of death. Among the main strengths of the resistance are its preparations and its weapons and training capabilities. “We have tens of thousands of trained fighters with the resilient and ability to confront, and we have the necessary capabilities to endure for a long time.” Qassem threatens Israeli civilians and says Hezbollah will attack Israel’s home front with missiles and UAVs.

According to Qassem, Hezbollah does not care who is elected in the US elections, because Hezbollah relies on the battlefield. The strength of the resistance lies in its continuity despite the military gaps, and in the power of will and confrontation. According to Qassem, Hezbollah’s only option is to continue the resistance.

Negotiations will take place only when Israel stops its attacks, and they will be carried out through indirect dialogue through the speaker of parliament and the head of the Amal movement, Nabih Berri, who carries the banner of political resistance. The basis of any negotiations is based on two things: stopping the aggression and ensuring that the brim of the negotiations is a full defense of Lebanese sovereignty.

Lebanon – General:

(November 9) A Hungarian plane landed in Beirut with humanitarian aid.

UNIFIL:

(November 7) It was reported that six UNIFIL soldiers were wounded in an attack on a vehicle in Sidon. According to reports, a UAV attacked a vehicle at the Al-Aveli checkpoint. The attacked vehicle appeared to be in close proximity to the UNIFIL vehicles.

The Syrian arena:

(November 4) Attacks targeted Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters in the al-Sayyida Zaynab area of Damascus. The intelligence headquarters is responsible for building the intelligence picture, directing intelligence activity, and coordinating collection and detection capabilities. Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters operates a branch in Syria, which includes a collection and assessment system. The network operates independently and under the direct direction of Hezbollah’s Chief of Intelligence Staff, Hossein Ali Hazimah, who was eliminated in Beirut about a month ago. The attack in Beirut’s Dahiya area not only eliminated Hashem Safi al-Din and Hossein Ali Hazimah, but also eliminated Mahmoud Muhammad Shahin, the head of Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters in Syria.

(November 5) Weapons depots used by the Hezbollah terrorist organization’s armaments unit were attacked in the Al-Qusayr area in Syria. Hezbollah’s armaments unit is responsible for storing weapons in Lebanon and recently expanded its activity to Syria within the Al-Qusayr area, near the Syrian Lebanese border. This is another example of Hezbollah creating for itself a logistical infrastructure for transferring weapons from Syria to Lebanon through the border crossings. The attack was part of the IDF’s counterterrorism activity against Hezbollah’s arms smuggling from Syria to Lebanon.

Unusually, the IDF claimed responsibility for both attacks.

(November 9) Several airstrikes around a-Safirah in Aleppo and in the Saraqib area of Idlib. Among the targets attacked were headquarters of the Radwan forces, where weapons had been stored in the past, and the Institute for Scientific Research.

In another airstrike that preceded the above attack, an attack was reported on a radar station and a Syrian air defense system around Tal al-Masih in the As-Sweida province in southern Syria.

(November 10) Another attack on Sayyida Zaynab struck a residential building. The attack specifically targeted the third floor of the building. Apparently, this was the elimination of a senior Hezbollah operative. According to various reports (unverified as of this writing), the objective of the attack was the elimination of Ali Musa Abbas Daqduq (“Abu Hussein Sajed”), commander of the Golan Heights Portfolio Unit responsible for gathering intelligence and carrying out terrorist attacks against Israel from southern Syria in an area near the border. Daqduq’s son, Hassan, was also active in this unit. On December 8, the son was eliminated in the Quneitra area.

It was reported in Lebanon this week that in one of the recent attacks in Al-Qusayr, Syria, Salim Ayyash was killed. Ayyash had been convicted of the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik al-Hariri (2006) and was a senior Hezbollah official.

Shiite Axis – General

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq:

During the past week (November 4-10), the Islamic resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for 27 UAV attacks against targets throughout Israel. The IDF intercepted at least 16 UAVs launched from Iraq. In the other incidents, no further indications were reported.

On the night of November 10-11 alone, four UAVs launched at Israel were intercepted.

From November 2023, the month when the Islamic resistance in Iraq began carrying out attacks against Israel, until November 11, 2024, 290 attacks against Israel have been claimed.

Yemen – Houthi-land:

On November 8 and November 11, two ballistic missiles fired by the Houthis at Israel were intercepted.

(November 9-10) It was reported that the U.S. and the U.K. carried out strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen.

Since October 2023, there have been 221 Houthi attacks against Israel, the United States and other targets.
