Tarek Haj Yassin is Yassin al-Mayouf’s son, one of the founders of the Shia movement in Deir Ez-Zor (Northeastern Syria) in the eighties of the last century.
Tarek currently serves as a coordinator between the regime forces and the militias operating under Iranian sponsorship in the Deir Ez-Zor province. He owns several buildings in the town of Hatala, which is located east of Deir Ez-Zor city. Some were rented, to UN agencies, despite the knowledge of officials in these agencies, about Yassin’s direct connections with the militias operating under Iranian sponsorship. The buildings are used to provide students with educational courses and warehouses.
At the same time, Yassin rents facilities to the militias that they use for their military needs within a civilian population that serves as a human shield.
