On September 8, an airstrike targeted the former military air defense school base south of Homs. In addition, according to local reports, another strike is believed to have targeted a site in the town of Sqoubin, east of Latakia. According to various reports, the strike south of Homs hit a warehouse (or multiple warehouses) containing Turkish missiles and air defense systems transferred to the site. There has not been verified. In any case, these are advanced weapons systems that posed a threat to Israeli operational freedom. Similar systems may have been targeted east of Latakia as well. The security agreement signed between #Syria and Turkey in August 2025 deepens Turkey’s political-security foothold in Syria and Syria’s dependence on Turkey. The military buildup of the new Syrian army relies heavily on Turkish assistance, including professional training and technical support in both Syria and Turkey’s territories, as well as the transfer of advanced Turkish-made weaponry. From an Israeli perspective, the challenge is twofold: Turkish weapons operated by Turkish soldiers on Syrian soil could be used against Israel, and Turkish influence over the Syrian army could lead to independent Syrian use of these weapons against Israel in the future.

Dear Tal,
From my perspective, Turkey is a hostile actor in the region, with Erdogan making claims to Israeli territory including Jerusalem.
He is delusional and dangerous for the entire region. He needs to focus on the Turkish people and their present needs. Not follow delusions of empire like the ayatollah. Their empires are dead, and will now be swept away.
