Hezbollah’s provocations in the Blue Line region have been occurring for some time and have received widespread coverage. Alongside it, #Hezbollah also runs a perception campaign. As a part of it, an up-to-date photo of the tent erected by Hezbollah in the Mount Dov region several months ago was published in the Lebanese media. The tent in the photo overlooks the communities of Dan, Dafna, and Sh’ar Yishuv at a distance of 3-4 miles away, and it is clear Hezbollah wishes to send a deterring message to Israel. At the same time, the Lebanese government recently launched a Blue Line campaign in which officials made negative statements about Israeli border violations as well as UNIFIL’s conduct. Furthermore, yesterday, officials of the UN Security Council were given an official tour of the border area, during which they heard about Israel’s alleged violations along the border from Lebanese sources. All these events are taking place in the run-up to the renewal of #UNIFIL‘s mandate at the end of the month, with the goal of improving Lebanese positions.
