An Air Strike in Homs (Northwest Syria) – February 6, 2024

On the night of February 6, an air strike was carried out in Homs (northwest Syria). According to photos taken earlier today (February 7), it is possible that the target of the attack was a logistics complex with warehouses and a parking lot for trucks, tractors, and road rollers. The complex is located in the south of the city, adjacent to Highway 3, which connects Deir ez Zur in the east to Homs. This is a central traffic crossing of the Iranian land corridor.

It seems that there was a truck (or several trucks) parked in the logistics complex that were damaged and may have been carrying weapons for Hezbollah. This morning, Hezbollah published an announcement about the death of two more operatives. Several indications linked their deaths to the attack in Homs.

According to the reports, several areas in Homs were damaged during the attack. To our understanding, they were hit by failed launches and shrapnel from Syrian air defense missiles. One of them fell on a civilian house in the west of the city of Homs, near the municipal stadium, causing the destruction of the building and civilian deaths. The city of Homs and its surroundings are a major target for airstrikes. The city, due to its geographic location, is a central junction for the Iranian land corridor routes. Also in the vicinity of the city there are military installations, CERS center sites for weapons development and production industry, warehouses and parking lots used in the weapons smuggling operation to be transferred to Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Shiite militias in Syria. In light of the above, there are many air defense sites in the city area.
