Based on local indications, it seems that the explosions early in the morning (August 13) were at a central base of Division 4, where the division headquarters is also located, west of Damascus. At this point, the cause of the explosions is not completely clear. There is a possibility that they were caused by a local failure and not by any air attack. In contrast to previous attack incidents (which were also at this base), Syrian officials did not comment on the explosions and, immediately after them, the air defense activation was not detected. There are weapons storage sites at this base. It should be noted that Division 4, under the command of Maher Assad, operates de facto under the Shiite axis, and Shiite militia activists have been annexed to it.
