The Syrian political leadership mourns the death of Soleimani

The Syrian Army’s General Command held a memorial service at Assad’s National Library in Damascus to commemorate a week to the deaths of Qasem Soleimani and the Shiite militants who were with him.

The ceremony included speeches by the political leadership in Syria, most prominently The Political and Media Advisor to the Syrian President Bouthaina Shaaban, who compared his death’s injustice, with that of the injustice the suffered by the Palestinians, as she shared his passion towards the Palestinian Case. The ceremony also included the presence of the Syrian Deputy Minister of Defense Mahmoud Abed El Wahab, Syria’s Mufti, Ahmad Badreddin  Hassoun, and Iran’s Ambassador to Syria, Jawad Terek Abadi.

The speakers praised Soleimani and talked among others about his contribution to the spreading of the Resistance ideology and embedding it in a grassroots manner throughout the Middle East. Moreover, they highlighted that the Resistance will continue at an even higher rate in the face of the “Zionist enemy”.
