During the war, the Radwan Unit was severely damaged. 31 of its senior commanders were eliminated, along with hundreds of operatives. Its military infrastructure in southern Lebanon, intended for the plan of invading the Galilee, was destroyed. According to assessments, the Radwan Unit today has approximately 3,000 combat operatives, in addition to hundreds of supporting operatives.

Whereas before the war Radwan was organized and deployed on the basis of its fixed military infrastructure south of the Litani, today its principal deployment is in areas north of the Litani and in the Beqaa, with the capability of carrying out offensive and defensive missions south of the Litani.

As part of the unit’s current rehabilitation efforts, it is highly probable that it is working to update its operational plans, gather intelligence, and conducting force-building processes through the recruitment and training of new operatives.

On 08 September, military training camps of the Radwan Unit in the Beqaa were attacked from the air. To our understanding, the location of the training complexes is in the mountainous region northwest of the town of Arsal, in the Wadi Fa’rah area, south of al-Hermel. At least five operatives were killed in the strike.

This was the second strike against Radwan Unit training camps in the Beqaa in the past two months. On 15 July, a strike took place west of the town of Chmistar, in which six Radwan operatives were killed.

The presence of the Radwan Unit in southern Lebanon in general, and south of the Litani in particular, is expressed primarily through the unit’s operatives who are locals, conducting within its framework ad-hoc activity (updating operational plans, intelligence gathering, collecting and rehabilitating weaponry, and the like).

As of today, the Radwan Unit cannot realize a significant invasion of the Galilee; however, it is capable of attempting to conduct focused, high-quality activity in various formats (including by sea) along the border (sniping, explosive device, anti-tank fire, explosive drone/UAV, and infiltration). In our assessment, the eastern sector constitutes a higher risk of ground infiltration activity by Radwan, with emphasis on the areas of Har Dov, Ghajar, and Metula.

  1. Dear Tal,
You have again clearly revealed that the terrorist proxies of Iran and Qatar have not changed at all regarding their genocidal mission to destroy the State of Israel. They must therefore be destroyed and their funding ended to stop their genocidal missions and future attacks upon Israel.
The Qatari capital of propaganda Aljazeera lies must also be stopped by law or by force.
