Hezbollah is determined to continue with its reconstruction and resistance. Hezbollah uses every event—religious, social, or political—as a platform to spread its messages and justify holding on to its weapons. Even in completely civilian events, such as religious celebrations or community gatherings, Hezbollah sharpens its messages about “the resistance,” the need to preserve the balance of power with Israel, and the lack of legitimacy of government decisions seeking to restrict its activity. In doing so, it reinforces its messages among its base, conveys determination and “steadfastness,” and makes it clear once again that disarmament is not on the agenda. It presents its weapons as the key to Lebanon’s security and national dignity.
