The Syrian Ministry of Interior Presents: Internal Security Forces Upgraded with Modern Equipment and Turkish Weaponry

On the occasion of the anniversary of the Syrian revolution (marking the beginning of the civil war on March 15, 2011), a showcase parade was held on March 17, 2026, presenting the “new and more modern face” of the Syrian Ministry of Interior’s security units. The parade began outside the Ministry of Interior headquarters, attended by Interior Minister Anas Khattab (انس خطاب) and additional officials, and proceeded toward Umayyad Square (ساحة الأمويين) — the central and most significant square in Damascus, surrounded by key governmental, academic, and cultural institutions, including the University of Damascus, the National Opera House, the Ministry of Defense, and the Armed Forces General Command. During the parade, newly trained personnel and their units were presented, equipped with modern gear, including Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles and Turkish-manufactured firearms. These included SAR-109T rifles produced by the Turkish company SARSILMAZ, and KCR-556 rifles manufactured by KALEKALIP – both Turkish companies. The internal security units that participated and were showcased in the parade include: Special Tasks Units, the Road Security Unit, the Events Security Unit, the Traffic Police, and the Tourism Police.
