Hezbollah continues to use schools as rocket launch sites for their use as human shields against Israel. In IDF footage released this week, the heat signature of a rocket launcher is seen being transferred onto school grounds, a clear use of civilian infrastructure for military purposes. Hezbollah launched rockets into Israel from the school compound located in the village of Chehabiyeh, south of the Litani River. Following the identification, and in accordance with international law, the IDF struck the threat. This event demonstrates the effectiveness of IDF maneuver elements in pushing Hezbollah forces further away from Israeli communities. Chehabiyeh is at least 14 km from the Israeli border. 28% of Hezbollah’s rocket attacks reach beyond 5 km into Israel since Hezbollah reentered the war on March 02, 2026. On the other hand, this event also shows the need to demilitarize the entire area south of the Litani, which the Lebanese Army failed or refused to do during the ceasefire.
