Israel Continues Operations to Eliminate Threats from Southern Syria The IDF efforts to eliminate potential threats in southern Syria continues in recent days, alongside its operations in other arenas. During the night of March 17, the IDF carried out airstrikes on targets in and around the city of Daraa. The strike in Daraa appears to have hit at least two targets in the northern part of the city, which, according to the IDF spokesperson, were used for military purposes. On March 18, an IDF airstrike targeted artillery positions in the Khan Arnabeh region (northern Golan).
In addition to these strikes, Syrian reports claim that in recent days, IDF forces have conducted raids on several sites in the Golan Heights, targeting former Syrian army positions as well as other locations. Against the backdrop of statements by senior Israeli officials regarding the new regime in Syria and given the current instability in the country, it is likely that Israel will continue its operations in southern Syria in the near future. These strikes are aimed at eliminating existing military capabilities and preventing the entrenchment of new security mechanisms in the region.
