During the fighting in As-Suwayda Governorate in July 2025, Druze minority forces clashed both with regime forces and with Sunni Bedouin tribes.
Our analysis of the events shows the following findings:
•The regime forces deployed to As-Suwayda came from at least nine different divisions, some with a distinctly jihadist orientation, as well as Internal Security Forces.
•The Bedouin tribes, operating under the Syrian Council of Tribes and Clans, sent fighters from over 40 tribes across Syria.
•The Druze forces, comprised of several armed organizations, were joined by a large number of civilians fighting alongside them.
•The fighting took place both in the city of As-Suwayda itself and in approximately 22 other locations, primarily to the west and north of the city. These included both Bedouin and Druze villages, as well as main roads.
At this stage, there is no reliable information regarding the total death toll, but estimates place it at around 1,500 on both sides combined, including both civilians and combatants. In addition, reports indicate tens of thousands of displaced persons from both sides.
