In February 2023, Haj Askar was apparently dismissed from his position as the military head of the Shia militias in the Al-Bukamal area after 3 years. The reason is his failure to expose the sources reporting on the activities of the Shia axis in the Al-Bukamal area.
It seems “The last straw” in this context, is the recent attacks on the truck convoys entering from Iraq through the Al-Qa’im crossing and attacked upon their entry at the Al-Bukamal crossing. Haj Abbas was appointed as his replacement. A video showing a convoy that was attacked.
