In the last three days, five operatives of the Amal movement have been killed. They join another fellow operative killed last November. The leader of Amal and Speaker of the Parliament, Nabih Berri, stated on February 4 that “Amal is ahead of Hezbollah in the defense of Lebanese soil, but the Amal movement does not have the military capability of Hezbollah, so it is fighting within its existing military capabilities.” Amal’s militia, whose operatives assist Hezbollah in its activity against Israel currently, has light to medium weapons, including anti-tank missiles and rockets. Amal also has military infrastructure (weapons depots, headquarters, etc.) in southern Lebanon within the civilian human shield. On April 12, 2022, as a result of an explosion, one of the weapons warehouses of the Amal movement was exposed in the Shiite village of Bnaafol, which is located east of Sidon. One of Amal’s military commanders was killed in the explosion. Just like Hezbollah in these types of events, the Amal movement also tried to hide the real reason for the explosion.
