Hezbollah has been actively preparing for the local election campaign in Lebanon, which began today (May 4) and will continue throughout May. The attached image shows one of #Hezbollah‘s command centers set up for the elections. In southern #Lebanon, the elections are expected to take place on May 24. Traditionally, the election campaign will be a joint effort between Hezbollah and the Amal Movement. Hezbollah views the municipal elections as an opportunity to restore its internal legitimacy, prove it remains a central force in Lebanon, and project stability externally. Hezbollah’s main concern is independent candidates who could “take votes.” The campaign will likely focus on Hezbollah’s civilian reconstruction efforts, Shia unity, and maintaining stability and security.
