Hezbollah’s “Imam al-Mahdi Scouts” marked the 40th anniversary of their establishment on February 28 at an event held in the “Almuda” hall in the city of Al-Hermel, north of Baalbek in the Bekaa Valley. During the event, there were recitations of passages from the Quran, scout songs, and the singing of the anthem.
Hezbollah’s Scout Movement was founded in 1985 and has over 40,000 members across dozens of branches throughout #Lebanon. It operates under the Education Unit of the Executive Council. Activities in the movement are relevant from age 8 up to high school age. As part of their training, particularly in their teenage years, the members receive religious lessons and ideological reinforcement classes focused on Shia beliefs.
The youth in the movement essentially serve as a recruitment pool for new operatives into #Hezbollah‘s ranks. After the age of 16-17, many of them directly join the organization’s military activities.
