Iran’s Continued Involvement in Lebanon

The Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, sponsored (through a Hezbollah representative in the Beqaa) the inauguration ceremony of a water reservoir, held on January 10 at the religious compound of Sayyida Khawla in Baalbek. The event was attended by senior Hezbollah officials in the Beqaa region, representatives of local political actors, clerics, representatives of Palestinian organizations, and representatives of the “Iranian Committee” responsible for the project. During the ceremony, Hezbollah speakers thanked Iran for its “no-strings-attached support” and emphasized its contribution to improving civilian services in the city, presenting the Iranian involvement as part of humanitarian and social assistance. Iran, in cooperation with Hezbollah, continues to deepen and consolidate its influence in various civilian spheres (religious, social, and economic) in Shiite population areas in Lebanon. This takes place alongside its deep involvement and influence in Hezbollah’s military aspects. The image shows some of the ceremony’s participants alongside Hezbollah and Iranian flags (on the right), as well as images of the supreme leaders, Khamenei and Khomeini (on the right), and of the eliminated Hezbollah leaders Nasrallah and Safi al-Din (on the left).
