On November 11, during Al-Sharaa’s visit to Washington, graffiti attributed to supporters of ISIS appeared across the Syrian city of Hama. The inscriptions read: “The Islamic State is on its way to slaughter you, dogs of normalization.” The death threats appeared amid reports of progress in a potential agreement with Israel and the Syrian regime’s growing rapprochement with the West.
It appears that the stability test of Al-Sharaa’s regime has already begun and that any further move may ignite domestic unrest in a country still undergoing reconstruction. In the coming days, we intend to publish an updated situational assessment analyzing the emerging threats to Al-Sharaa and his regime, possible “day-after” scenarios in the event of a violent ousting, and their implications for Israel’s security challenges.
