New Iranian MANPADS in Al Bukamal – Deir ez Zor

Based on local indications, the Iranians recently handed over dozens of shoulder-fired anti-aircraft Mithaq 1 missiles to the Shia militias in the Albu Kamal – Deir ez Zor area of Syria. This is a heat-seeking “fire and forget” shoulder-launched missile.

Developed in Iran’s Khatami Center for Industry based on a Chinese platform, its range is 5km to a max height of 4km. A Hezbollah operative named Mehdi al-Said came to instruct the militias on using the missile, with high probability the missile is also in additional proxy arenas.
