The territory of southern Syria is divided into three govenorates: Queneitra (to the west), Daraa (in the center), and Suwayda (to the east). The main religions are Sunni muslims and Druze. The majority of the population is Sunni. The main city in Queneitra govenorate is Khan Arnabeh. In the Daraa govenorate the capital is Daraa, and the capital of the Suwayda govenorate is the city of Suwayda. Most of the border with Israel is in the territory of the Queneitra govenorate, with the exception of the tri-state border area (Israel-Syria-Jordan) located in the territory of the Daraa govenorate.
