Weekend Update May 23-26, 2024, 02:30 pm – Northern Arena

  • In the past 72 hours Hezbollah claimed responsibility for 30 attacks against Israel using high-trajectory fire (including Grad and Falaq rockets), anti-tank missiles, and suicide UAVs.

  • In addition, there were 6 events of UAV infiltration into Israeli territory in the Upper Galilee, Western Galilee, Mevo’ot HaHermon region, and the city of Kiryat Shmona for which no responsibility was claimed.

  • On Thursday (May 23), Hezbollah launched dozens of Grad rockets toward the communities of Upper Galilee. According to Hezbollah, the attack was aimed at military targets and was a response to killing a Hezbollah military operative.

  • In addition, on Thursday, Hezbollah launched Grad and Falaq rockets toward the region of Beit Hillel. According to Hezbollah, the attack was aimed at military targets. Some rockets hit civilian areas causing fire. Attached is a video taken from social media (credit: unknown).
  • Also on Thursday, Hezbollah launched anti-tank missiles toward the communities of Even Menachem and Metula, and a suicide UAV toward the area of Kiryat Shmona.

  • On Friday (May 24), the Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for launching UAVs toward the Haifa port. The IDF spokesperson said a UAV that approached northern Israel from the east was intercepted. During the interception attempts, debris fell in northern Israel, causing a fire around Safed. No injuries were reported, and the incident is being reviewed.

  • On Friday, Hezbollah launched high-trajectory fire and anti-tank missiles toward the communities of Margaliot and Manara. In addition, Burkan rockets were fired toward the area of the Malkia community, and Falaq rockets toward the area of the Dovev community. According to Hezbollah, the attack was aimed at military targets, but in practice rockets hit inside the community of Dovev and caused severe damage.   • Yesterday (May 25), Hezbollah launched high-trajectory fire and anti-tank missiles toward the communities of Manara, Metula and Shtula. According to Hezbollah, these attacks were a response to an IDF attack in southern Lebanon.
  • In the past 72 hours, the IDF struck several Hezbollah targets in Lebanon including military compounds, infrastructures, and observation posts around Ayta ash Shab, Rab El Thalathine, Odaisseh, Maroun al-Ras, Meiss El Jabal, Souaneh, Ramyeh, Yaroun, Hanine, Marwahin, Aitaroun, Khiam and Ayta ash Shab.

  • IDF soldiers fired artillery shells to remove a threat around Marwahin, Matmoura, Wadi Hamoul, Rachaya Al Foukhar, Souaneh, Kfarkela, Khiam, Houla, and Markaba in southern Lebanon.
