1. Over the past 72 hours, Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for 19 attacks against Israel using high-trajectory fire, including Grad and Falaq rockets, anti-tank missiles, and suicide UAVs.
2. Additionally, over the weekend, a UAV was intercepted in the Upper Galilee by the IDF, and rockets were launched towards the Misgav Am and Bar’am areas, resulting in the injury of two soldiers. No responsibility was claimed for these incidents.
3. On Thursday evening (August 15), Hezbollah launched Grad rockets towards the Zaura area in northern Golan, hitting open areas and grazing pastures.
4. On Friday (August 16), Hezbollah launched suicide UAVs toward the northern Golan Heights; one UAV was intercepted by the IDF while the other exploded in the Kela area. Hezbollah claimed the target was a military base and that the attack was a response to IDF strikes in Lebanon.
5. During the night between Friday and Saturday (August 17), the IDF attacked a weapons storing facility, located in Wadi al-Kfour, west of Kfour. According to local reports, 10 Syrian refugees were killed and several others injured in the attack. The facility was targeted at night, outside of working hours, to avoid civilian casualties. It is possible that Hezbollah is using Syrian refugees as human shields near locations where it stores arms, so that when these sites are attacked, Hezbollah can claim the IDF is targeting civilians, thus reinforcing its image as the “defender of Lebanon.”
6. In response to the Kfour attack Hezbollah launched approximately 55 Grad rockets on Saturday toward Ayelet HaShahar, causing several fires in the region. Hezbollah claimed they targeted a military base as a retaliation to the IDF strike in Nabatieh.
7. On Saturday, in an IDF airstrike in the Tyre area, Hussein Ibrahim Kasseb, a commander in the Radwan unit, was eliminated. Kasseb, born in 1989 in the village of Tire Dabaa in south Lebanon, resided in the Bourj al-Shamali Palestinian refugee camp, east of Tyre (the refugee camp is adjacent to the village). The IDF continues its operation to hunt down and eliminate anyone directly involved in military terrorism against Israel, with a focus on operatives from the geographical units and the Radwan unit.
