In an airstrike today (May 21), Hezbollah operative Hussein Nazih Barji, an engineer from the village of Ramadiya, was eliminated in the town of Ain Baal in the Tyre region. Barji was a key figure in the field of weapons production in Lebanon. He operated within Hezbollah’s research, development, and production directorate, which is responsible for developing, manufacturing, and maintaining weapons, as well as expanding Hezbollah’s supply capabilities. The directorate also manages numerous weapons production projects, including precision-guided missiles. Barji was responsible for establishing infrastructure for the production of precise surface-to-surface missiles as part of Hezbollah’s rehabilitation efforts. As noted today at the annual Alma Center conference, Hezbollah’s military rehabilitation has two main components: independent weapons production on Lebanese soil and the smuggling of weapons and funds from abroad.
