According to various reports from Lebanon, #Hezbollah has announced an immediate and indefinite suspension of compensation payments to victims of the war with Israel, distributed via the “Al-Qard Al-Hassan” bank, effective June 23. It is claimed that the suspension is temporary, due to operational difficulties and a shortage of cash liquidation. Since the ceasefire began (November 27, 2024), Al-Qard Al-Hassan has distributed approximately $500 million in compensation and rehabilitation to thousands of victims from the Shiite base in southern Lebanon, Beirut, and the Bekaa Valley.
Notably, this comes in the context of the elimination in Iran (June 21) of the commander of Unit 190—responsible, among other things, for the logistics of transferring funds from Iran to Lebanon (Behnam Shahriari)—and the elimination in Lebanon (June 24) of a central figure in Hezbollah’s financial transfer infrastructure (Haitham Abdallah Bakri, director of the “Al-Sadiq” exchange house, one of six main currency exchanges linked to the Iranian Quds Force funding channel to Hezbollah via Iraq, Turkey, and the UAE).
Assuming the reports regarding the suspension of compensation payments are accurate (as of now, no official statement from the bank has been found), we assess that the consequences of the war against Iran are already directly impacting the flow of Iranian money to Hezbollah. The elimination of the Unit 190 commander is a contributing factor. It is possible that the Iranian regime has “frozen the situation” to assess the damage and reprioritize its resources.
One Response
It is good news that funding for Hezbollah terrorists is being reduced, but there is much more to be done. From the corrupted NGO’s, the corrupted UN (unmitigated nonsense), and all forms of dark money from around the world generated by the oppression of the innocents needs to be confronted and ended. Even the money being given to LAF needs to be strictly scrutinized and monitored and be segregated from any Hezbollah support.
