Abandoned Hezbollah-Linked Hospital in Southern Lebanon Reportedly Destroyed

On September 6, 2026, according to local reports, the abandoned “Martyr Salah Ghandour” (الشهيد صلاح غندور) Hospital in Nabatieh al-Fawqa, southern Lebanon, was targeted. The hospital belongs to Hezbollah’s Islamic Health Organization. Footage from the scene indicates that the entire compound was targeted and destroyed.

The hospital was not operational and had been abandoned for approximately five months. On April 2, 2026, Al-Manar, Hezbollah’s television channel, reported that the “Martyr Salah Ghandour” Hospital had announced the suspension of its operations.

Hezbollah routinely uses the infrastructure of its Islamic Health Organization for its military-terrorist activities. Its ambulances are used to transport operatives and weapons from one location to another, while the organization’s clinics, pharmacies, and hospitals are used to convene operatives and house command posts and weapons depots. The areas surrounding these facilities are also occasionally used as launch sites.

This is a well-known Hezbollah modus operandi, and it is therefore no coincidence that the abandoned hospital compound was targeted. A separate analysis of the events of the past weekend, September 3–6, will be published separately.
