Hezbollah Strategic Depth in the Bekaa Valley – an Operational and Logistical Center of Gravity

The Bekaa region – Hezbollah’s strategic depth. Operational and logistical center of gravity. Geographical responsibility of the Haidar unit. The Bekaa region is home to a wide range of critical Hezbollah infrastructure and serves as a base for transferring forces and assets to Hezbollah’s other areas of operation in Lebanon. Command and control sites, training bases, weapons production, rehabilitation, upgrading and storage facilities, significant underground infrastructure, storage and launch sites for strategic arrays with an emphasis on ballistic missiles (such as the Scud D and the Fatah 110 types), air unit infrastructure (127), air defense and cruise missiles (in our assessment, such as the “Paveh” for example, of which a photo was published on March 17 showing the tail of a “Paveh” missile, which allegedly fell in the Lake Qarauon area – south of the Bekaa, after being launched from the Bekaa region). In addition, it is possible that the “Ali Assaf” militia (a proxy missile force of Hezbollah) also operates from the Bekaa. From March 02 to the present, only about 10% of Israel’s attacks on Lebanon have been carried out in the Bekaa region.
