Five geographical units operate in Hezbollah. Each geographical unit is responsible for a specific area and has independent military capabilities relevant to its tasks. The losses Hezbollah suffered during the last war affected all the areas of these five units.
When considering all the damage (eliminating commanders and operatives, destroying military infrastructure, damaging weapons, etc.), we assessed that the Nasser Unit and the Aziz Unit, operating under Hezbollah’s southern front, suffered the heaviest losses. It appears that the Haidar Unit, responsible for the Bekaa region, was tasked with assisting in the process of rehabilitation and military reinforcement. On February 28, Muhammad Mahdi Ali Shahin, a key operative in the Haidar Unit, who was engaged in coordinating deals for the procurement of weaponry along the Syria-Lebanon border, was eliminated. “Shahin also mediated between the arrival of weapons shipments and their distribution to the various Hezbollah units. It is also likely that each unit operates simultaneously and independently in the process of procurement, rehabilitation, and reinforcement.
