Hezbollah Supporters Celebrate Lebanese Soldier’s Death in Ammunition Explosion

Hezbollah supporters expressed joy when a Lebanese army soldier was killed by an explosion of Hezbollah-owned ammunition in southern Lebanon.

Lebanese army soldier Fadi Muhammad Jassim, from the town of Wadi Khaled in the Akkar Governorate in northern Lebanon (the majority of the population is Sunni), was killed on April 14, 2025, following an explosion during an engineering operation by his unit in Wadi al-Aziya in southern Lebanon to neutralize and dispose of ammunition left by Hezbollah. Jassim was apparently killed by a mine planted by Hezbollah. The soldier’s death sparked widespread grief among many Lebanese citizens. He was laid to rest in an official military funeral held in his village of Wadi Khaled, in the presence of military representatives, family, and many residents.

However, Hezbollah supporters on social media did not seem particularly sad, for example: An X account owner named Hussein (an authentic account, not fake) expressed joy over the soldier’s death, writing, among other things, “He died while searching for the weapons of the good guys,” referring to Hezbollah. He also added: “The army is only closing in and pressuring the resistance (Hezbollah), and therefore it is just as equal as the enemy army (Israel). I hope that everyone who pursues us (referring to Hezbollah) will have their end.”
