Two significant airstrikes were carried out in recent days against two strategic underground Hezbollah compounds. The first attack on May 5th was against an underground compound in the Nabi Chit area near the border with Syria. The compound served as a precision missile manufacturing plant and was attacked for the fourth time after Hezbollah attempted to resume operations there. The second attack was carried out on May 8th against a large underground compound built inside a mountain that is located east of Nabatieh, between the villages of Tebnit and Roumanne. This compound contains shafts and tunnels with various types of weapons. Hezbollah’s land of tunnels and underground networks was built over many years with Iranian and North Korean assistance throughout Lebanon. We estimate that Hezbollah possesses additional underground compounds and strategic tunnels.
