Analysis of IDF Strikes in Lebanon – Six Months for the Ceasefire

By: Tal Beeri and Dr Zoe Levornik.

On May 27, 2025, six months had passed since the ceasefire with Lebanon was declared. Since the beginning of the ceasefire, Israel has been carrying out daily strikes in response to threats and violations of the ceasefire terms by Hezbollah. The strikes target Hezbollah military sites as well as Hezbollah operatives (eliminations).

In just the past week, May 21–27, 21 strikes were carried out (18 in southern Lebanon and 3 in the Beqaa), along with 6 eliminations of Hezbollah operatives (3 from the Radwan Unit), indicating Hezbollah’s presence and activity in southern Lebanon.

The data analysis we conducted since the start of the ceasefire on November 27, 2024, indicates that Israel has carried out a total of 371 strikes in Lebanon (the analysis is based on data published by the IDF Spokesperson’s website and other open sources online, and does not include artillery strikes).

Nearly 50% of all strikes took place south of the Litani River, in the 1701 area.

In December 2024 and March 2025, the highest number of strikes to date were carried out. In December, 84 strikes were conducted, and in March, 80 strikes. In both months, rockets were launched from Lebanese territory into Israel.

Since the beginning of the ceasefire, we have identified 84 confirmed eliminations of Hezbollah operatives (note – it should be mentioned that the IDF recently announced that over 140 operatives have been eliminated. In our data analysis, we refer only to operatives for whom official announcements with identifying details were published). These operatives were involved in activities including infrastructure restoration, renewed operational organization, intelligence gathering, planning of terror attacks, and the transfer of weapons.

The majority of these eliminations—53.6%—were carried out south of the Litani River, in the 1701 area. 44% of the eliminations took place north of the Litani and in the Beqaa region.

According to the data, most of the operatives who were eliminated belonged to Hezbollah’s geographic units: Nasser, Aziz, and Badr. In addition, several operatives and commanders from the Radwan Unit were eliminated (in May 2025 alone, 5 Radwan operatives were eliminated), as well as from Unit 4400 and the aerial Unit 127.

In March 2025, the highest number of eliminations was recorded: a total of 24 eliminations. As mentioned above, during this month, two rocket fire incidents occurred from Lebanese territory into Israel.

In conclusion, based on the total number of Israeli strikes in Lebanese territory since the ceasefire began, it is evident that Hezbollah operatives continue to be present and active in southern Lebanon (including operatives from the Radwan Unit), with an emphasis on the area south of the Litani River. It is also apparent that many Hezbollah military sites remain unaddressed by the Lebanese army, despite statements and publications by the Lebanese government and military claiming that they have taken control of approximately 90 percent of these sites south of the Litani River.
