Many of the launchers are mounted on civilian trucks—either with an open hydraulic platform carrying a launcher, or within a closed container that opens hydraulically, from which the launcher is elevated and deployed. To increase the survivability of these launchers against intelligence detection and strikes, Hezbollah has dispersed launcher trucks throughout Lebanon within civilian population centers. Among other methods, they are concealed inside designated houses that outwardly appear to be ordinary private homes, ostensibly inhabited by families. The sole purpose of these designated houses is to hide a launcher truck, which is literally parked inside the structure. How does it work? Stage 1: Constructing or renting a building that outwardly appears to be a standard private residence inhabited by a family. Stage 2: Modifying the interior space to accommodate a launcher truck (a single large, high-ceiling space without rooms or internal walls, allowing vehicle maneuverability in and out). Stage 3: Creating rapid access routes for vehicles adjacent to the structure, while leaving one external wall open to enable quick entry of the truck into the designated internal space. Stage 4: At the operational moment, bringing in the launcher truck, rapidly inserting it into the structure, and quickly rebuilding the external wall to conceal it. Result: A structure that appears externally as a private home, while concealing a rocket/missile launcher truck inside. When Hezbollah enters an emergency state, the launch cell positions itself within the structure or in its immediate vicinity. Its activity is conducted with a low signature, using civilian clothing to blend into the local population. Upon receiving a launch order, operatives break through the external block wall, extract the truck from the structure, position it for launch, and carry out the firing. To further enhance the survivability of its rocket array, Hezbollah has also deployed shorter-range rocket launchers inside private homes, alongside families that continue to reside in the building. An advanced version of such structures enables launching directly from within the building by incorporating a hydraulically opening roof. During the 2023–2024 war, it was observed that private homes within villages and towns were also used for the storage and launch of cruise missiles, UAVs, and anti-tank missiles. In underground parking facilities beneath buildings—particularly in major cities—Hezbollah conceals vehicles and trucks equipped with launchers, in addition to using these sites for weapons storage and production.
