As part of Operation “Roaring Lion,” launched by Israel and the United States, Iran continues to carry out strikes against Israel as well as against American bases in the Middle East. Between February 28 and March 1, 2026, Iran conducted a broad wave of attacks against military and civilian targets in several Middle Eastern countries, using ballistic missiles and UAVs.
The attacks targeted American military bases and strategic facilities in Gulf states, but also civilian targets and civilian infrastructure. In some cases, successful interceptions were reported, while in others casualties and property damage were recorded.
United Arab Emirates: The UAE has been a central target of Iranian missile and UAV attacks, during which Al Dhafra Air Base in Abu Dhabi was struck, resulting in the death of a person of Asian origin. In addition, UAV attacks were carried out against civilian targets in the hotel area of Jumeirah and against the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai, a symbol of the city. On March 1, a residential building in Dubai, a mall in Sharjah, and an industrial area were attacked. In the city of Sharjah, three fatalities and 58 mildly injured individuals were reported. The UAE Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense systems had so far dealt with 167 missiles and 541 UAVs launched from Iran (we are unable to assess the reliability of these figures).
Bahrain: As part of the attacks, the U.S. Fifth Fleet base in Manama was targeted. Civilian targets were also attacked, including residential buildings and the Crowne Plaza hotel in Manama.
Qatar: Al Udeid Air Base and an American radar system were attacked. In addition, the international airport was targeted. On February 28, Qatar reported that Iran had launched 44 missiles and 8 UAVs (we are unable to assess the reliability of these figures).
Kuwait: Several locations were attacked, including Salem Base and Kuwait International Airport.
Saudi Arabia: On February 28, the U.S. King Fahd Air Base in Riyadh and the King Salman headquarters were attacked by missiles.
Jordan: In Jordan, Muwaffaq al-Salti Air Base in Azraq was attacked multiple times by missiles; Jordan announced that it had successfully intercepted all of the attacks. However, a missile was reported to have fallen on Al-Hashemi Street in Irbid.
Iraq: In Iraq, several American bases were attacked: Al-Harir Base in Erbil (Iraqi Kurdistan) and Ain al-Asad Base. Attacks were also reported in the Jurf al-Sakhar area. Pro-Iranian militias in Iraq declared that they had carried out 16 operations that day, which included launching dozens of UAVs toward American bases in Iraq and the region — indicating a combination of direct Iranian action and action carried out through regional proxies.
Oman and the maritime arena: On March 1, the arena expanded to Oman as well. Duqm Port was attacked by two UAVs, with one injury reported. In addition, the oil tanker “Skylight” (flying the flag of Palau) was attacked approximately five nautical miles off the coast of Oman; four of the twenty crew members were injured and the crew was evacuated.
In summary, the Iranian wave of attacks between February 28 and March 1, 2026 reflects a coordinated, multi-arena campaign involving the massive launch of ballistic missiles and UAVs toward American bases and strategic infrastructure, while at the same time clearly targeting civilian objectives — including residential buildings, hotels, shopping malls, airports, and ports — indicating a broad regional escalation that does not focus solely on American military assets but also affects the civilian and maritime spheres of the region’s states.
